The Curriculum
The academic curriculum allows boys and girls to study a diverse yet balanced range of subjects. It has been designed to test their strengths and capture their imaginations. Children have the opportunity to make tremendous progress in their studies and achieve impressive results. English continues as the primary language with German as the second medium of instruction. The use of both of these languages leads to true bilingualism, French is the third modern language. Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, History, Geography, Religious studies, Music and Art are provided for all children.

The “International School Heiligenhaus“ has developed a timetabling system that allows flexibility between classes. Thus a child with strengths in a particular subject will be able to join a more advanced group, while those who require a little more time will be able to consolidate and without irritations will be continuously supported by the teacher. Pupils can reach their maximum potential consistent with their ability and irrespective of age. Pupils are encouraged to be independent in their learning strategies. Building up confidence in the intellectual abilities and developing the curiosity of each child are first steps to reach this high aim. Our school places great emphasis on the academic achievement, while ensuring that children learn to become culturally well rounded and socially adept.

The curriculum offers enormous variety, scope and flexibility to achieve a balance between academic, creative and social activities. It prepares children for the further stages in their education and careers, whilst ensuring that an awareness of self purpose within the world is at the centre of their conscience.

Every child is encouraged to learn a classical musical Instrument and the school makes its premises available for individual music lessons and group practices.
In the middle and upper school, pupils grow in self confidence, sociability and academic skill. They are familiar with their environment, rapidly maturing in self awareness and responsibility.

They start to assess their strengths, which leads to choices and preferences for the future. They will assume leadership roles in many areas of school life and start to develop a sense of moral values. Their rapid personal and cognitive developments will lead to an equally rapid increase in academic performance and physical prowess.
Programs designed to channel this surge of energy include: Liaison visits to universities and research establishments, expedition and adventure training, exchange visits to other countries and a whole variety of academic and leadership orientated tasks within the school. At the “International School Heiligenhaus“, we place great emphasis on the breadth of education, the development of life long skills and the nurturing of individual talent. Children acquire the values and opportunities that enable them to face the future with confidence and enthusiasm.
We invite parents, pupils and teachers to participate in the vitality of our school community and the high spirits of our pupils.
